Architectural Elements of type "Element type hardware" are contained in this class. "Element type hardware" in this respect means that the architect makes certain statements about the hardware used to realize (parts of) an infrastructure facility. Examples would be

• prescribing the presence of certain hardware components, e.g. an ISDN-BRI card;
• prescribing hardware capabilities, e.g. use of a TOE (TCP Offloading Engine) on a network interface.
