The Filtering function scans through data, matching it against patterns or rules, and either passing it on or not. |
Description
This Generic Function belongs to Working Area Network. The Filtering function scans through streaming data (or reads from regular data) matching that data against patterns or rules. Depending upon the matches found, the data is either passed on (to one or more destinations or consumers) or not. Note that Filtering can be seen as a limited form of Data Scanning, or can be used together with Data Scanning to model data scrutiny followed by a yes/no decision.
