Environments can exist in one or more Working Areas. The OIAm dimension "Working Area" signifies a logical grouping of Environments and infrastructure facilities (Building Blocks) that offer a same kind of functionality and commonly are managed with the same infrastructure expertise. The purpose of this dimension is the assignment of responsibilities for maintenance of guidelines, functional descriptions and standards for a specific kind of facilities. Thus, each organization could theoretically divide the infrastructure landscape along different lines, according to their own interpretation of fields of expertise and substantial responsibility. However, in practice we see that most organizations use Working Areas that are much alike.
