Location

This Environment exists in the following Working Area(s):

Description

In the Data Centre - Back End Environment, facilities are in place to support and secure data management, data exchange between business functions/applications, used by ArchiSurance, and also facilities from the Server Working Area, and facilities to implement security and management. The facilities in this Environment are provided and managed by ArchiSurance. In the Data Centre Environment, physical conditions (like power supply, cooling, fire prevention and physical security) meet very high standards.

Business Context

The Middleware Environment Data Centre Back-end is used to accommodate all facilities that take care of data management/exchange and resource management for core business processes, from distribution planning up to delivery and financial management.

Quality Demands

The quality demands of this Environment are:

QA Group Quality Attribute Value Rationale
Flexibility Adaptability NS -
Scalability up, down, out and back Since facilities in this environment often provide support to facilities and applications that are used to carry out business processes, they need to provide sufficient capacity without incurring unnecessary cost. This means that during times of heavy use, ArchiSurance should be able to increase the capacity of facilities that are affected by excessive usage and decrease this capacity when the peak has subdued. Because of the nature of the facilities in this Working Area/Environment, scaling out (the preferred way of enforcing scalability) is not always possible, in that case, scale up/down provisions need to be in place.
Maintainability Manageability NS -
Accountability NS -
Reliability Availability High A proper operation of these facilities in this Environment is crucial to the availability of facilities and applications that support core business processes and applications rely on it. Therefore, only the highest level of availability is sufficient.
Integrity NS -

NB: Only the two or three most important Quality demands for this environments are rated here. The purpose of this listing is to generally characterize an Environment in terms of Quality demands.
