Description

SAP Authorization (native).

Business purpose

The purpose is the authorisation of the usage of SAP transactions / programs, based on the RACI matrix of the businesses that are using the SAP application to support their processes. This authorization facility is SAP proprietary and integrated in the installed SAP application.

Characteristics & indications of usage

The authorization data can be exported, maintained and deployed from the Central User Administration (CUA). This will provide the organisation with a single point of administration and an excellent overview which user is authorized on which systems and for which activities. The Authorization and Authentication facilities are integrated in one application.

Elements

When designing a facility to implement this function, inclusion of all the following elements is prescribed; either mandatory, optional or explicitly forbidden:

Element Type Prescribed Rationale
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (SmartHat) mandatory Stable and cost-effective server platform
Central User Administration (CUA) mandatory Part of the SAP software that handles authorization for SAP applications
EL.Database Prescription Oracle Click to create! Click to create! mandatory Oracle is the preferred RDBMS for SAP applications.

Quality Requirements

When a facility is designed according to this architectural recipe, it must/will satisfy the following Quality Requirements. This is the responsibility of the infrastructure designer. Note that because of the specified Elements (either the mandatory Elements and any applied optional Elements), some of these Requirements might automatically be satisfied.

QA Group Quality Attribute Value
Flexibility Adaptability HSC
Scalability up
